Move to the ponytail and using a TAIL.COMB and TEXTURE.COMB, backcomb out the hair working from the bottom up. Create a strong pad of hair and layer SESSION.SPRAY while building the shape.  Keep moving up the ponytail until you have reached the top. Smooth over in the shape but do not clip in at this stage.

With the top section, start at the back and backcomb the roots for hold and a slight pad, which will enhance the direction. Work all the way forward smoothing as you go and clip the sides to maintain the differing direction and the narrowness of the section.

As you move to the front, do not build up too much height, as the hair must move from the forehead seamlessly. Keep the hair flat over the crown.  The aim is to achieve a square shape, not round.

Once the top section is placed, smooth over and round the chignon at the back. Gather the ends and place in a band.  Make sure the shape is perfect and then clip in underneath at the bottom of the hairline.
